THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS AND THE DEFEAT OF THE DEVIL
“Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.” (Hebrews 2:14-15).
Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice. He had to come in human flesh to experience what we were experiencing, in order to be able to deal with our shortfalls. If you do not know what suffering is, how can you help a suffering person? That was why Jesus was born by a human person, so that he could have firsthand knowledge of our problems. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless because sin had messed us up, Jesus Christ died to save us from our sins. You can hardly have anyone volunteer to die for a righteous man let alone dying for a dirty sinner! However, God demonstrates his own love for us sinners, by allowing his righteous Son Jesus Christ to die for us. This love of Jesus demonstrated by his death for us has made it possible for us to be justified through faith. Therefore we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into the grace of God. That grace is Jesus Christ.
The tools of the devil against humans are the things that give him power. Jesus died to break the power of the devil. The devil can use pornography and other unacceptable practices to distance you from the love of God in an attempt to destroy you. The devil does it by oppressing your spirit. Satan’s power stops when you get into the Spirit of Jesus. But Satan’s power becomes obvious when you are in the flesh. Keep building the bricks of faith. Satan has very limited power, so do not let him overpower you. Identify him and the things he is planning to do. Satan brings about the constant battle you may experience in the world. Therefore, do not love the world or anything in the world. If you love the world, the love of God is not in you. You should know that everything in the world such as the cravings of the sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does, come not from God but from the world. The world and all its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:15-17).
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. (2 Timothy 4:2).
Jesus Christ came into the world to do the work of salvation, which is to bring back the people of the world to their Creator. People had gone astray as sin became their master. The coming of Jesus Christ freed people from the bondage of sin.
